A badly decomposed body found in a creek north of Auckland has been confirmed as that of Alanah Brough.
Ms Brough, 39, of Whangaparaoa, had not been seen since January when she walked from her Bonita St home towards Whangaparaoa College. She left behind two boys, aged seven and 14.
Detective Inspector Bruce Scott said a forensic dentist this morning confirmed the body retrieved from a creek near the Stanmore Bay Leisure Centre at Whangaparaoa, 40km north of Auckland, on Wednesday was that of Ms Brough.
A post mortem had already established her death was not suspicious and the matter had been referred to the coroner, Mr Scott said.
Her body was found about two weeks ago by a group of children, who played with it until Wednesday as they mistakenly thought itwas a crocodile corpse.
