Christchurch CBD future revealed today

Christchurch residents will find out today what their new city centre is going to look like.

Earthquake Recovery Minister Gerry Brownlee is to announce at 10.30am the government's response to the city council's plan to rebuild the zone which was wrecked by last year's February 22 earthquake.

There's speculation the government has decided to put its own appointee in charge of the rebuild, but Christchurch Mayor Bob Parker says he isn't worried.

"Everything I've heard from the minister and others is that the vision we've collectively put together is a great vision," he said yesterday.

Mr Parker says he's confident the government isn't going to take over the council's role, but Labour's Christchurch East MP Lianne Dalziel isn't so sure.

She questioned Mr Brownlee in parliament before Easter about cabinet discussions on the city centre rebuild but he would not answer.
