He was found guilty of murder yesterday by a jury in the High Court at Auckland.
As he was led from the court room, a family member of Connor Morris, who had Head Hunters connections, yelled, "Murray your day's coming".
Criminologist Greg Newbold said Murray would likely be kept in protection and his location secret.
"He'll have to have a fairly close eye kept on him for most of his sentence," he said.
But, Mr Newbold warned Corrections might have its work cut-out.
"The problem with the protection wings now is that there are so many people on protection, they quite often need people on protection within protection.
"It's going to be a bit of a headache for the Department of Corrections," he said.
Michael Murray will be sentenced on September 11.
