A cycle helmet might have saved the life of a man who died when he fell off his cycle in Tauranga yesterday, say police.
The body of the 48-year-old man, who has yet to be named, was found on the rocks near Matapihi Rd, Police believe he had fallen off his cycle and had tumbled onto rocks.
He had no helmet but Detective Sergeant Pete Blackwell said a helmet may well have saved his life by preventing the fatal head injuries which killed him.
He said there was nothing suspicious about the death.
