A fleeing robber allegedly pulled a gun on a Petone Kathmandu shopkeeper as he fled the store with puffer jackets yesterday afternoon.
It was the third robbery of a Kathmandu shop in the Wellington region in two days, each time trying to take puffer jackets.
About 2.20pm yesterday the man grabbed a rack of puffer jackets from the Kathmandu store on Jackson Street in Petone, Detective Sergeant George Campbell said.
As the man ran from the store with the shopkeeper in pursuit, he turned around and pulled a gun and threatened to kill the manager.
"The offender has then jumped into a dark coloured sedan, which was parked in the store carpark, and sped off. There were two men waiting in the car."
Police believed the same group of men had stolen about 10 puffer jackets from the Willis Street store on Tuesday, and tried to steal jackets from the Lyall Bay store earlier yesterday.
The men have been described as Maori in their 20s, and the man who entered the store was wearing jeans and a light coloured hoodie or sweatshirt.
Police would like to hear from anyone who might know the men involved.
