A 71-year-old whitebaiter was flown from the Whataroa River mouth to Grey Base Hospital by the NZCC Rescue Helicopter this morning after he fell from the roof of a whitebaiting hut last night while trying to secure a TV aerial.
Extreme weather conditions meant the airlift of the injured man to hospital was not possible last night and the man, who suffered a broken hip, was kept in a comfortable condition at the accident scene.
