Southland MP Joseph Mooney’s flight home yesterday was diverted back to Auckland after the plane was struck by lightning.
Mr Mooney posted on social media last night: "Plane getting stuck by lightning was quite the way to round out an eventful week".
"After a one-day caucus at Premier House in Wellington today I took my ‘new normal’ route from Wellington to Auckland, to catch a flight to Queenstown.
"Flight to Auckland was uneventful, but next plane climbing out of Auckland headed to Queenstown was struck by lightning, which made quite a bang both audibly and visually". — APL
