A man is dead after becoming trapped under a car in east Auckland this afternoon.
Police said they responded to an emergency call at 12.15pm from Highland Park.
"Initial reports suggest the man was pushing a vehicle down a driveway about 12.15pm when he somehow became trapped underneath it.
"His next-of-kin have been notified and the death will be referred to the Coroner."
It is understood the incident happened on Pitlochry Place.
The street has been cordoned off.
Resident Donald Watson told Stuff police were the examining the car, which was parked in a driveway.
"They had the bonnet up and were looking in there and looking around."
He had not heard any noises around the time of the incident.
"There hasn't been a sound out of anything."
