An 'irate male' was shot in the leg this afternoon by police.
Police were called to a domestic violence incident in Manurewa, on arrival at the scene, police say they were confronted by the angry man.
Police withdrew and requested back-up; however, the man confronted a police officer and was subsequently shot in the leg.
The man has non-life threatening injuries and is undergoing treatment.
The matter is now subject to a police inquiry, and also one by the Independent Police Conduct Authority.
