A Taranaki man who raped his three young daughters over a seven-year period has been jailed for 10 years.
The Taranaki District Court was told that the man, who has interim name suppression, destroyed his family by raping, sexually abusing and threatening his daughters.
The eldest daughter told the court that she had many times tried to kill herself because of the abuse, The Taranaki Daily News reported.
Her mother said she would never forgive her husband for the "enormous" harm he had done to the children.
Judge Roy Wade said the abuse was "the grossest possible breach of trust".
The man was sentenced to a total of 10 years' jail for the two charges of rape, sexual violation by unlawful sexual connection, assault with intent to rape, two counts of indecent assault and indecent assault on a young person.
Judge Wade ordered a non-parole period of five years.
