A fisherman missing on the Tauranga Harbour since midnight last night has been found after making his way to shore.
The 60-year-old Katikati man set off on a fishing trip in a 4 metre aluminium boat on the Tauranga Harbour around 4pm yesterday.
He failed to return and was reported missing shortly after midnight.
A search and rescue operation mounted last night with a helicopter equipped with night vision gear had to be abandoned due to adverse weather conditions.
However, around 7:40am police and ambulance were called to an address in Sharpe Road, Aongatete.
Police said the fisherman had made his way ashore early this morning and come to the address for assistance.
Police said the man was un-injured, but tired and suffering from the effects of exposure.
Ambulance took the man to Tauranga Hospital to be treated, police said.
