A man charged with the murder of a Kaikohe woman during a domestic incident in the town last month has been further remanded in custody.
Bailey Gabriel Pirini (38) was remanded to February 25 when he appeared again in Kaikohe District Court today.
Pirini, of Kaikohe, entered no plea to the charge which followed the death of 47-year-old Lola Paraha. She was flown to Whangarei Hospital and died there on January 14 after what police said was a violent domestic incident in a central Kaikohe flat next to the Kaikohe police station the previous night.
No one else has been sought in connection with Ms Paraha's death. Police have not detailed the nature of her injuries or said how she died.
A two-year-old girl at the property at the time of the incident is currently being cared for by family members.
