The HMNZS Canterbury arrived in Samoa today with much needed aid, vehicles and supplies in the wake of last months's earthquake and tsunami.
The ship docked in the capital Apia this morning after spending the last two days anchored off the Tongan island of Niuatoputapu while supplies were delivered to shore via helicopter.
Among the supplies destined for Apia were 540 fale poles, telephone poles, plumbing and electrical equipment and water piping requested by the Samoan Government.
The ship also carried 13 containers of aid donated by the New Zealand Samoan community.
Tomorrow the HMNZS Canterbury will head back to Niuatoputapu to offload Tongan Government and New Zealand Defence Force vehicles before heading back to Apia on Sunday.
