Police to interview stabbing victim today

A woman stabbed yesterday during an attempted bag snatch near Hamilton Lake is to be interviewed by police today.

She was taken to nearby Waikato Hospital with moderate to serious injuries after the stabbing, about 1.15pm.

Detective Senior Sergeant Karl Thornton said police would formally interview her today.

Her injuries were not considered life-threatening.

It was the second bag snatching incident in Hamilton in the past four days, after two women were allegedly attacked in separate assaults on Sunday night.

Three women, aged 17, 21 and 26, were arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated robbery.

The 17-year-old faces an additional charge of assault using a spatula and beer glass.
