Police investigating the death of a 58-year-old man in Auckland last night will not know if he died in suspicious circumstances until an autopsy and scene examination have been carried out.

Manamana Heti, also known as Stephen Heti, was found dead by ambulance staff at his Great North Rd home in the suburb of Grey Lynn shortly before 11pm.

Police were called and secured the scene overnight.

Mr Heti's body was removed this morning and a post-mortem will be carried out.

Police have spoken to another resident at the address, and visitors to it last night.

A thorough scene examination will be carried out today.

Police spokeswoman Noreen Hegarty said the examination and post-mortem would clarify how the Mr Heti died, and whether or not there were any suspicious circumstances.
