A 54-year-old man admitted charges of rape and injuring with intent to injure during an appearance in Whanganui District Court yesterday.
The man, who was granted interim name suppression to protect the identity of his victim and children, was due to be tried this week, but he pleaded guilty to amended charges before a jury could be impanelled.
He was remanded in custody and will be sentenced on April 11.
The rape occurred on February 16, 2011, while the injuring with intent to injure charge relates to offending in January 2009. Both offences took place in Wanganui.
