Rotorua Museum is to shut for at least two years, it has been revealed.
The museum was closed indefinitely when cracks were found in the historical part of the building after November's earthquake, and councillors at this morning's operations and monitoring committee meeting were told it would be at least two years until it reopened.
Rotorua Lakes Council chief financial officer Thomas Colle said the Category One heritage building would be closed for at least two years.
The engineers rating of the building, which had been expected in April, was now likely to be ready in June.
Mr Colle said it would take another six months to go through the design options for the repair.
