More than 700 Te Anau homes were without power for over an hour last night after an unexplained outage.
PowerNet network operations manager Gary Pritchard said that at 10.45pm last night 714 customers across the Te Anau township were affected by a power outage.
Power was restored at shortly before 12.30am this morning after PowerNet had carried out safety checks.
Mr Pritchard said PowerNet was investigating the cause of the power cut.
