Teacher stabbed in classroom

Police are questioning a 13-year-old boy after a teacher was stabbed at Te Puke High School this morning.

The teacher is being treated at Tauranga Hospital. His injuries are not life-threatening.

Tauranga police were called to the school at 11:10am.

It is believed the incident took place in a classroom, and there may have been up to 24 students present, a police spokesman said.

The students are being offered support and counselling following the incident.
