Another vehicle has been broken into at a popular recreation car park, the second in two days, police say.
A vehicle's drivers-side window was smashed and a bag containing a wallet, drivers licence and bank cards were taken while parked in a car park at Tunnel Beach.
Senior Sergeant Liz Waru, of Dunedin, said police were actively patrolling the area in the hope of catching the offenders.
The latest incident, which occurred yesterday between 10am and 11.50am, comes after a tourist vehicle was targeted in the same area on Monday and two backpacks were stolen.
"We're trying to locate the people responsible," Snr Sgt Waru said.
A car on Angle Ave, Tainui, was also broken into and about $700 cash was stolen.
Offenders "jimmied" the drivers side door and grabbed the cash from the glove compartment, Snr Sgt Waru said.
The person recently sold the vehicle and forgot the money was in there, she said.
"People need to be mindful of their property," Snr Sgt Waru said in a reminder to the public.
"They need to lock it up and remove any valuables from their vehicles," she said.
Anyone with any information about the thefts should contact Dunedin police on (03) 471-4800 or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555-111.
