Weather prompts warning for Nth Island motorists

Police are advising caution on lower North Island roads this morning due to rain, fog and wind gusts.

Central Communications Centre spokesman Sergeant Andy Dow said overnight rain has caused many roads in the lower North Island to be slippery, and police have received reports of minor flooding and strong winds on the Desert Road.

There is also limited visibility in Wellington due to low mist.

Mr Dow reminded motorists to drive to the conditions.
