Winz shooting trial delayed

A man accused of killing two women at Ashburton's Work and Income office last year has had his trial delayed.

Russell John Tully faces eight charges in relation to the shootings, including the murders of Peggy Noble and Leigh Cleveland.

He's also charged with the attempted murder of Lindy Curtis and Kim Adams.

Tully appeared in the High Court at Christchurch this morning, accompanied by four Corrections officers.

He was due to stand trial in just over a week, but this was abandoned this morning. A new date has yet to be set.

All other details surrounding the nature of the hearing have been suppressed.

Tully will reappear in court later this month.
