Christchurch police are appealing to the public for help after a woman was attacked in her home last night.
Inspector Alan Weston said the 58-year-old woman was at her home in Dallington, northeast of the central city, when she was attacked at 10.15pm.
The woman was in bed when she was woken by a male intruder who assaulted her then fled the house.
Police were conducting a scene examination of the house and conducting area enquiries in the vicinity of Halberg Street and Snell Place, where the attack occurred.
Police were interested in hearing from anyone who was in the area last night or saw any suspicious people or vehicles.
