A woman has no recollection of what she was doing outside and how she was injured before being airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.
The Tauranga-based Trustpower TECT Rescue helicopter was sent to Te Puke in the Western Bay of Plenty at 3pm yesterday to help the 32-year-old.
The woman was concussed and had a serious head injury in what was thought to be a horse-related incident.
She was stabilised at the scene by St John paramedics before being flown to Tauranga Hospital.
A Philips Search and Rescue Trust spokesman said there were no witnesses to the incident, and the woman could not recall what she was doing outside or how she was injured.
The woman is now in a stable condition.
Earlier this month, Canterbury mother Nicola Pellett (47) died after a horse riding accident at Mandeville sports grounds, near Swannanoa home.
Last month, Waikato girl Maddison Smith broke her jaw and needed more than 100 stitches after a spooked horse kicked her in the face near Pukekawa.
