A woman has accidentally shot herself in the head with a nail gun.
The 41-year-old had been using the nail gun in her southern Melbourne backyard to build a small fruit cage when the gun snagged on her jumper and shot out a nail.
"A five centimetre-long nail when into her face just above her eye ball," at about 5pm (AEST) on Friday, said paramedic Lisa Austin in a statement.
The woman walked inside, called triple-zero and remained awake until paramedics arrived at the Bentleigh home.
"She was in considerable pain," Ms Austin said.
"The nail went all the way in. We calmed her down and reassured her husband."
She was taken to The Alfred hospital where she is listed in a stable condition.
