British authorities say the port of Dover has been shut down because of a "security incident" and a bomb squad has been sent to the scene.
The nature of the incident wasn't immediately clear but a spokeswoman for the local Kent Police said military bomb disposal experts were called in. She spoke on condition of anonymity in line with force policy.
Dover, on England's south coast, is one of the country's busiest passenger ports and a key maritime link to France.
