Managers of the Wānaka Community Workshop are seeking public feedback on how they operate and serve the community into the future.

Wānaka Community Workshop operations manager Toni Mason said there was a real thirst for learning among the community.

"We’re not going away, I just think its time for change, transition and growth,” she said.

The survey asks which facilities each individual finds most valuable, what they would like to see in the future and possible locations for a workshop space.

Ms Mason said she could have big dreams for future workshops and materials but the important focus was what the community wanted.

“We’re looking at the future here, in the long term . . .  as it’s [Wānaka] growing and changing.

"Why are we going to look at just repeating what we’ve got now, it about what the community wants,” she said.

Ms Mason said the volunteer group had done something for almost every organisation in Wānaka.

"From Toy Library through to Wai Wānaka and pretty much every school and preschool, we do anything from mud kitchens to pest traps.

"Our volunteers are very involved.”

The Wānaka Community workshop worked in partnership with a number of organisations, she said.

"I am really excited by the future but it is a bit daunting.

"We will obviously need to raise a lot of money but, I've already been talking and informing the various funding organisations throughout the region of what our plans are and they are supportive.”

The Wānaka Community Workshop facilities include a wood workshop, sewing room, tool library and resource centre.

The survey can be found through the Community Workshop website.
