The $1.1 million contract to resurface and improve safety on Centennial Ave, Alexandra, has been let to Fulton Hogan.
Work, which includes a new roundabout at the intersection of State Highway 8 and Clutha St, and cycle lanes from the Dunorling St-Centennial Ave roundabout through to the new Clutha St roundabout, is due to begin next week, starting with the block between Brandon and Shannon Sts.
New Zealand Transport Agency project manager John Jarvis said most of the work should be finished by early December, with the whole job scheduled for completion in early March.
He said the Central Otago District Council would continue with its water main upgrades, in conjunction with the road works.
