Six Silver Ghosts rolled into Wānaka last Sunday at the end of a traverse of three alpine passes between the South Island’s east coast and the Southern Alps.

The classic Rolls Royces — five from Canterbury and one from Wānaka — had spent the weekend tackling Danseys Pass, between Waitaki and Central Otago; the Thompson’s Track between Omakau and Tarras; and the Crown Range between Queenstown and Wānaka, before converging on Allan Dippie’s property at Ruby Island Rd.

The rally represented six of seven Silver Ghosts that their owners know to be in the South Island.

The seventh decided not to join the excursion.

The cars are all over 100 years old.
