Inaugural on-farm merino sales in Central Otago last week have been called a success.
PGG Wrightson agent John Duffy said vendors Little Valley Station, Matangi Station and Galloway Station did a great job displaying their stock, while purchasers enjoyed the opportunity to visit the properties.
The sales were held as a result of the closure of the Cromwell saleyards and there were already discussions about repeating the on-farm sales next year. The three-farm sale day attracted good buying power from Canterbury and throughout Otago, Mr Duffy said.

Matangi — top merino wether lambs, $72, merino ewe lambs, $54.50, halfbred wether lambs, $85, halfbred ewe lambs, $78.50, annual draft merino ewes, $71.
Galloway — top merino wether lambs, $81; merino ewe lambs, $77.50; six-year merino ewes, $96.
