A grand entrance to Alexandra

Golden leaves and a stunning autumn day transform this view of the Clutha River flowing under the Alexandra Bridge into a picture postcard scene.

The bridge, a steel truss arch bridge and part of New Zealand State Highway 8, was opened on July 5, 1958.

The bridge is next to and just upstream of the old bridge, whose piers, abutments and towers remain.
