A self-described old man's pub in Alexandra is embracing its girly side by raising funds for the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation.

Pink merchandise is selling faster than it can be ordered at the Criterion Club Hotel, which yesterday hosted a Pink Ribbon Breakfast.

Breakfast host and club employee Catherine Lee said she was motivated to raise money for the foundation after her grandmother died from the disease and her mother experienced "numerous scares".

Ms Lee organised the breakfast in conjunction with Weight Watchers, of which she is a member.

Some of the club's produce suppliers donated food for the breakfast. All proceeds will go to the New Zealand Breast Cancer Foundation. Merchandise for the organisation has been on sale at the club this month.

"This is the first Breast Cancer fund-raiser we have had at the pub and all the merchandise I ordered for the month has already gone. Some men who couldn't bring their wives, partners, or daughters to the breakfast instead made donations."
