To review candidates

The Central Otago District Council is about to review candidates for a new chief financial officer position, created after former corporate services manager Susan Finlay took up a job at the Central Lakes Trust in June.

The former role included financial management, technology, and administration.

The council's chief executive, Leanne Mash, said it was ''basically'' the same role but under a new name, though the governance aspect of was now under her management. Governance was the notion of how decisions made by elected representatives were translated into action, she said.

The new name would attract a wider range of applicants as the title of corporate services manager was not well-known outside local government, Ms Mash said. Applications closed for the position in mid-July.

The council was still receiving applications for a properties and facilities officer, after Evelyn Bisset retired from her role after 33 years with the Central Otago local government.
