The four people killed in a crash near Lake Pukaki over Easter weekend have now been named by police.
The crash involved two vehicles and a motorcycle and happened about 1.30pm last Saturday on State Highway8, between Hayman Rd and Tekapo Canal Rd.
The victims were Gavin James William Beere, 85, of Christchurch, Malaysian University of Canterbury students Megat Ashman Aqif Megat Irman Jefni, 21, and Wan Adlina Alisa, 20, and Phillip Wayne Woodham, 71, of Ashburton.
Three people died at the scene, and a fourth died days later after being airlifted to hospital in a serious condition.
Two other people were airlifted to hospital in a serious condition and two others sustained moderate injuries.
Inquiries into the circumstances of the crash are ongoing.
Police said the incident would require "a complex and lengthy investigation", and they appealed for any witnesses to the crash to contact them.
"Officers have spoken to a number of people who were present at the scene following the crash, but we would also like to hear from anyone who witnessed the crash, in order to build a complete picture of what occurred."
