Arrest after spirits theft

A 30-year old Dannevirke man was arrested and charged with burglary following the alleged theft of $600 worth of spirits from the Omarama Hotel early on December 29.

A crowd of about 2500 had attended the Omarama Rodeo the previous day.

Constable Craig Bennett, of Kurow, said it was alleged the intoxicated man took the bottles from a storage shed at the rear of the hotel, and he would appear in the Timaru District Court at a later date.
