Police have launched an investigation after two cars were found dumped and burnt out in Ferry Rd at Papakaio, inland from Oamaru on Sunday.
Fire crews from Glenavy, on the northern side of the Waitaki River, attended the blaze about 7pm and quickly extinguished the fires before the incident was referred to police.
Senior Constable Carl Pedersen, of Oamaru, said the fires were being treated as suspicious and inquiries were continuing.
