Hampden and Moeraki residents are without water after Waitaki District Council contractors accidentally damaged an existing water main during the construction of the new water pipeline from Oamaru to Moeraki, the council says.
The council took to social media this morning to apologise "for any inconvenience" while the water was off.
It was hoped water would be restored this afternoon.
The contractor damaged the existing water main at the north end of Hampden.
"It will take some time to make the repairs as it’s quite a bit of pipe that has been damaged," the council said.
