Jax Hamilton, this year's Masterchef runner-up, had the chance to work with Pen-y-bryn co-owner James Glucksman in the kitchen of the luxury Oamaru lodge over the weekend, preparing a dining experience for 30 guests.

Jax (45) was spending time in Oamaru at the weekend on a cook's holiday, entertaining and teaching guests for dinner on Saturday night.

Her cooking class included tips for the guests to prepare the entree - a prawn and pumpkin ravioli with a saffron cream sauce. She also prepared the menu for the main course and dessert.

Since the Masterchef competition, Jax has had a hectic schedule, which has included "Jax's Table" - going into homes and preparing a dinner party, radio, television and charity appearances.
