Fashion show and ball talk of the town, organisers say

Organisers of a steampunk fashion show and ball in Oamaru on Saturday say it is going to be an "awesome" event.

"People are talking about it in all sorts of places," Helen Jansen, the driving force behind the event, said yesterday.

The event is being held at the Homestead, with the fashion show in the afternoon, followed by the ball at night.

Tickets are still available.

Show finalists will be required to participate in a parade at the ball, where final judging will take place.

The supreme winner will receive $700 and a steampunked certificate.

Category winners and the supreme winner will exhibit their creations at a steampunk exhibition at the Forrester Gallery from October 23 to December 5.

Of the 22 entries, nine were from Dunedin and three from Christchurch.

The show will be compered by Waitati identity Mandy Mayhem.
