Floodlights for the Oamaru Opera House

Network Waitaki has given $20,000 to help pay for exterior lighting of the front facade of the refurbished Oamaru Opera House.

Lighting specialists were engaged by Network Waitaki to provide advice and set up a trial for floodlights on the facade.

The exercise proved successful, and the Waitaki District Council was working with the Opera House sub-committee to source further funding to ensure the project could proceed in time for the opening, chief executive Michael Ross said.

Our journalists are your neighbours

We are the South's eyes and ears in crucial council meetings, at court hearings, on the sidelines of sporting events and on the frontline of breaking news.

As our region faces uncharted waters in the wake of a global pandemic, Otago Daily Times continues to bring you local stories that matter.

We employ local journalists and photographers to tell your stories, as other outlets cut local coverage in favour of stories told out of Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.
