Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was ejected from a moving vehicle in Oamaru on Tuesday night.
Sergeant Tony Woodbridge, of Oamaru, said emergency services were called to the Oamaru Harbour area at 8.45pm on Tuesday.
At the intersection of the Esplanade and Waterfront Rd, they found a 34-year-old Oamaru woman in a critical condition, and police believe she suffered her injuries falling from a 1998 Ford Falcon.
‘‘We don’t believe the car has crashed, but at that intersection she has been ejected from the car and sustained some critical injuries,’’ Sgt Woodbridge said.
She was airlifted to Dunedin Hospital and remained in a critical condition yesterday.
Police had spoken to the driver of the vehicle and some witnesses, but were asking anyone who saw the grey-gold 1998 Ford Falcon in the Oamaru Harbour or Victorian precinct area on Tuesday night to come forward.
