Peg dolls were the appropriate holiday activity for (from left) Xavion Coates (5), Emma Carki (6), Melissa Carki (7), Ivy-Belle Mestrom (6) and Emily Petersen (8) who visited the North Otago Museum's ''Washing Day'' exhibition yesterday.

It was part of holiday activities at Waitaki District Council sports and cultural facilities this week, including today at the Forrester Gallery with a tour of the Bridge exhibition followed by the making of bridges.

The children were shown the Washing Day exhibition by museum curator-educator Elizabeth King, including the way clothes were laundered, from washing boards to old hand-powered and electric washing machines.
