Seminar on quake issues

The Waitaki District Council has announced a public seminar to discuss the district's position following the Christchurch earthquakes.

The large number of unreinforced masonry buildings in the district will be a chief concern, as will outcomes from the Royal Commission inquiry into the Canterbury earthquakes.

The effects of future changes in Government policy on building owners will also be discussed.

The guest speakers will be Alan Race (Crombie Lockwood), Lou Robinson (Hadley Robinson), Michael Garbett (Anderson Lloyd), Martin Craig (GNS Sciences) and a representative of the National Bank of New Zealand.

The seminar will be held between 10am and 4pm on Thursday, March 15, in the ODT Inkbox at the Oamaru Opera House.
