Three charged with drink-driving

A 20-year-old motorcyclist, who led police on a pursuit up Severn St and around the Hayle, Solway and Oban Sts area on Saturday night, will be charged with drink-driving, dangerous driving and failing to stop for police.

Sergeant Wayne Brew said the man was riding a Suzuki trail bike with no registration plates, about 8pm.

He was seen travelling at more than 100kmh up Severn St. He was apprehended at the corner of Wansbeck and Solway Sts and had a breath-alcohol level of 979mcg.

• An 18-year-old man lost control of his Toyota utility in Holmes St on Saturday night and hit a tree, causing the vehicle to spin around.

He then tried to drive off and nearly crashed into another tree. He will be charged with drink-driving (671mcg) and careless driving.

• A 24-year-old man, processed for drink-driving on Taward St on Saturday, had his vehicle impounded and his licence suspended. It was his fourth drink-driving offence.
