Accent on jazz

Queenstown becomes an epicurean music lover's delight this weekend as jazz comes to town.

The resort gets its biggest annual cultural fix with the 38th Queenstown JazzFest.

It will feature 80 performers across 50 events.

Influential American jazz musician David Friesen leads off with a concert at the Memorial Centre on Friday night.

The Hollie Smith Trio, with support from The Nudge, will play the same venue Saturday night.

And Melbourne jazz vocalist Hetty Kate and the Queenstown Jazz Orchestra complete the line-up of ticketed events on Sunday.

Queenstown JazzFest Trust spokesman Luke Baldock said most of the other performances would be free.

Jazz will emanate from various venues over the four days - from the TSS Earnslaw to hipster bar The Sherwood.
