Arrowtown woman to face four charges

An Arrowtown woman has been charged with assault, assaulting police, resisting police and escaping custody following a "protracted" incident in Queenstown early yesterday.

Sergeant Brian Cameron, of Queenstown, said police were called to a bar in the resort at 6.50am after the "grossly intoxicated" woman allegedly assaulted a doorman.

"Police have arrived on the scene and she's attempted to flee and has fallen over while running away and banged her head, which required medical treatment."

The woman was taken to Lakes District Hospital, but attempted to escape from the custody of the police officer accompanying her, Sgt Cameron said.

She will appear in the Queenstown District Court on August 11.

Meanwhile, police are seeking a male who was captured on security camera breaking into the Skyline Gondola Base Terminal on Brecon St at 4.10am yesterday.

Sgt Cameron said the male was filmed kicking in a glass pane and entering the terminal building.

The alarm activated and male could be seen walking to the front door, unlocking it and leaving.

The security system was damaged in an attempt to stop the alarm activating and although the building was also damaged, no property was taken, Sgt Cameron said.
