A new downhill mountain bike event in the Cardrona Valley will be run in conjunction with the Race to the Sky hillclimb.
While the cars will be racing up the Snow Farm road on the Pisa Range on Sunday, April 19, mountain bikers will be racing down the Cardrona Alpine Resort road on the opposite side of the valley.
The ''Mega Avalanche'' race is modelled on an event in the French Alps which attracts 1700 riders from more than 20 countries.
The 14km Cardrona race course drops 1300 vertical metres and includes a mix of open trails, twisty single tracks, steep descents and narrow technical switchbacks.
