Body found in lake

The body of missing Queenstown woman Renee Lisa Barrett (42) was found in Lake Wakatipu yesterday.

A statement released by Acting Detective Sergeant Matt Jones, of Queenstown, said the body had been formally identified.

It was found at noon by searchers conducting a shoreline search in an area close to a boat ramp in the Kelvin Heights area about 150 metres from where Ms Barrett's vehicle was found.

Police and LandSAR began searching on May 23 and aerial searches by helicopter were also conducted.

Lake Wakatipu's water level has been higher than normal and fluctuating due to significant rainfall.

The case has now been referred to the coroner.
