Boil water notice lifted

Residents of Arrowtown no longer have to boil their drinking water.

The Queenstown Lakes District Council issued a "boil water" notice on Tuesday after a routine test showed E-coli.

The contaminated sample was taken from the pipes at Cornwall St, while the test from the reservoir was clear.

Council procedures require a boil notice be given at first indication of unsafe water.

Daily tests must be clear for three days after that to lift the notice.

Arrowtown has no chlorine in its water.

The council also flushed the water lines.
