Dressed up as their favourite Christmas characters, the children enjoyed a variety of activities from baking and drawing to woodwork and water games.
As part of the school's "discovery project", in which the young pupils had a chance to explore different skills and ways to co-operate, in line with the
Deputy principal Lisa Collins said the day was made special by a lot of new and exciting school equipment.
"We have received donations with a combined value of close to $6000 from Skycity Casino and Southland Community Trust.
For that money we were able to invest in a fully stocked movable cooking desk, a woodworking table and a great deal of new educational toys, which fit our aim with our discovery project," Ms Collins said.
